I know i've seen a few posts about new foot pegs that will work with the gs, such as modified passenger pegs from other bikes

but what about the stock pegs on the gs already?

they are big and bulky and not the most pleasant, so i was wondering...

before i go and chop up the big pieces of rubber on them, does anyone know whats underneath!?

is it monstrous? is it magnificent?

just spitballing ideas here that could potentially work without costing me anything lol

if anyone knows id be happy to hear! or even better yet see them if youve got pictures!

No, clue. Pure speculation here, but I'd assume they'd have poor grip without the rubber. Probably  smooth steel underneath.

J_Walker

its just a piece of square stock, with a little metal plate welded onto the end.

I actually like the stock pegs  :dunno_black: comfy compared to other bikes.

I'm  with J_Walker; they're a little beefy, yeah, but they're comfy and practical.

I've always liked them too  8)
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

matttkeller

yeah probably wont do anything for now then!

maybe in the future ill rig up some rearsets, but at this point im not even scraping these stock pegs so that'd be pretty pointless

I bought a 2nd hand pair of rear pegs & put them on the front.
They fit perfect but don't retract....not a big problem.

Its nothing spectacular, and not functional since its a round slippery short tube.  I've experimented with 3 diff sets of different pegs on my GS and when I did the first set I ripped the rubber off the stock ones, no good.  I'm currently running the ones in the middle for about a year, so far so good.

You could cut the rubber off and then use a grinding wheel to cut a cross-hatch pattern into the metal for better grip.

Slack

You could make an offer on mine in the for sale section.  8)

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

Yeah, get slacks, they look awesome. I'd get them myself if I had the cheese.  :thumb:

Do you have a link to those middle ones somewhere to buy? I like the look.

Here you go;

and at ~12 bucks a set shipped for free ... even if you don't like them you didn't break the bank.  Here's what they look like on my GS.  Note: you'll need to do some minor grinding similar to the 'Peg Wiki' article.  Basically remove a stock peg and grind the mount on the new peg to match.  I have a bench grinder and it took me all of 5min per peg.  Here's the peg wiki if you haven't seen it already; http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Upgrades.Pegs

And they retract fine;
