Thanks for the pics!

How do you mean, that high beam is unimpressive? I am generally satisfied with the stock high beam at night, is this weaker than that?
Also, how does visibility improve if high beam 's*cks'?

Ride it like a 2 stroke:
1: Rev high
2: Add oil
3: Repeat

I dont have any concerns about the light. it's easily brighter and whiter than the stock set up on either pattern.  I did use high beam a few times in the spring and it was fine. It's summer now and I don't normally ride at night so no need for another few months.
I don't see how it could fit on an E. There are a few wires and the wires to the ballast part may not be long enough to hide that part under the tank.  maybe there's a better spot though.
RallyFan did you take any pics of it before install?  I'll look for mine.

Here is mine velcroed to the lower left inner nose fairing lip. Take care to support the underside of the lip so you don't crack the fairing. No boot in this pic. Wiring zip tied to fairing strut brace. The "box" for the LED lamp is barely visible under the adjustment mechanism; if you look closely you will see two wires heading toward the box under the adjuster. I used "industrial" velcro simply because I had it already.

Main beam is not as shocking as low beam. I'm pleased nonetheless and it's especially great in the day (not a typo; day) as the bike is visible no matter what the background. Adjust the beam at night and see what you think.

Do NOT stare into the bulb. Seriously!

Thanks!!!

:icon_mrgreen: I'm pretty happy to have helped you guys with this new head lamp. This is a good 'mod' that more of the F guys should get on board with.  The difference in illumination is huge.    :icon_mrgreen:

Also note that I was stuck riding in a hard rain for over 10 miles on Tuesday and had no issues w/o the dust cover on the back of the bulb/fan.

How "high" is your bulb adjusted? I've lowered mine almost to the bottom of the adjuster's travel. Did you re-aim after installing the LED?

As for water concerns, I worry about the connector to the bike harness rather than the fan. Good that you had no problems.

GatorTrae

I did not re-aim the bulb.  For now, 100% of riding is daylight. Will consider it later though.

I aimed lower for fear of blinding traffic. I keep the headlight on day and night (required by law here). Now, I'm a bit of a Clydesdale so I may tend to tilt the nose up a bit more when I ride so that may make it easier for my lamp to be too high (with me, it's always like all bikes have a pillion...).

As promised I'm sorting out the situation with the boot.

The boot that was on my bike is apparently the same boot that is found on late 1990s Honda Civic cars. In my area, people buy these cars for their children, who proceed to install huge mufflers on them. Another popular modification is to wrap the car around a tree. Therefore, spares are available at any wrecker.

Also, here is an eBay auction with the exact item that was on my bike:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1996-2000-HONDA-CIVIC-HEADLIGHT-boot-seal-RUBBER-33126SV4003-OEM-96HC1-/141760326045?hash=item210192e99d:g:qtYAAOxyLN9SesV1&vxp=mtr

An even cheaper alternative, if one is not afraid to perform some mauling with an exacto, is available at CandlePower online for $5. It's not the same item but ultimately I'm somehow making a big deal out of a small piece of molded rubber.

The lamp itself still runs great, fan hums away and the intensity will melt retinas head on.

Rallyfan

Outcome: I ended up trimming off the "threaded" part of the OEM boot, allowing the LED bulb and fan to screw together without leaving much of a gap in the rubber at all. I also cut a small slit in the bottom between the two drain holes to allow the other wiring to go through. End of problem.

Thanks again for the LED tip!
