Is anyone here running or has run the Shinko SR740 series tires on their bikes?

Good traction....long tread life...?  Lately I'm buying Kendas (671's) for the bikes I tinker with.....price is similar Shinko/Kenda wise-just want some input/opinions on how they are on the road.

GsJack....ever run the 740/741...?

I searched but didn't find any "review" references on these particular tires..

i run the shinko apex and love them. 120/60/17 front and 150/60/17 on back. i used dunlops before but im using shinkos for now on. i have a lot smother lean in with this set up and its a lot more stable. the grip is really good but im not to sure about the wear because i only have 300 miles on them so far. my bro tryed a few different shinko set ups on his gsxr 750 and like them all. he would get about 5000 miles out of the rear and he usually rode pretty hard.  but anyway i love how my gs handles now especially under a hard lean.

I've never tried the Shinko 740/741 tires but MCN didn't like them on their recent 250cc Sportbike comparo, I posted about it over at the EX-500 forum:

Those Apex radials look like they'll replace the Podium tires that have been used by quite a few GS/EX500 riders.  I'd expect them to be much better than the 740/741 tires which are probably the Korean equivelant of our oem Excedra tires.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Thanks Jack.

Odds are good that this Bike will be sold soon...If funds were better it would get BT45's or equivalent. It's not going to be a track bike- If the Shinko's are as good as the OEM - That'll probably work for  me.

There was one guy ( didn't spend a long time on the ex forum -read your post and another thread.... no super long term reviews..) who was running them and seemed  satisfied but  it wasn't a ton of miles.

Anyone actually running them here yet...?

How about The kenda 671's... I think I put them on the bike before last but I didn't to put many test miles on that one... ( the most recent one got a set of good (brand new) tires off the bike I had in the garage...time saver... anyway...).  The Kendas will be about 27$ more ( I have to poke around more...).

So...any first hand opinions -greatly appreciated.

Hey guys just got my shinkos on the Gs! There was t much out there on them so I took a gamble on them because of my budget and some good but limited reviews.
I had the BT45 on the front and rear before the switch and my first impression comparing the new shinkos are that they are good for the price. I have not taken them on twisters yet or leaned hard yet until I put at least 100 or so miles in them. Note that I'm a noob and only rode about 50 miles on the shinkos, but as of now they seem solid. Further updates on them will be posted soon.

those tires came on my Hyosung GT250r.....all I can say is all the Hyosung owners including my self were 10x happier after swapping them for some Michelins or dunlops....

They will last a very long time! Lasted almost 14K on my 250, but grip was near the low side if you're doing spirited riding.

I ran 740/741 for a season or two. Grip was good, just as good as the bridgestones it came with from the factory, BT0-somethings. Fine in the rain too. But I wasnt happy with the lifetime, I think only about 6k miles before the rear was a square drag tire. I do alot of commuting on the bike, and thats just not good enough for me. But by the same token, my conti twinduro rear only gave about 7k and is ready for replacement. But thats not a commuting tire and I knew it when I bought the set. I should note that continental failed to remove the mold teats from the bead, and I had a front flat after about ten miles after I spooned them on. Maybe I should have noticed, and I check new tires for that problem now, but it caught me offguard. Shinko did not miss that little detail.
