I am in the process of installing new handlebars on my 2007 GS500F. When I took the left handlebar switch assembly off of the old handlebars a spring fell out and I did not see where it came from. Does anyone know where this spring goes? Looks like it is for the choke but I just don't see how it fits

I don't think there's a spring for the choke lever, but I've never completely taken a LH switch assembly apart.....

isn't there a very short spring in the turn signal switch?

It's opener there in the wide open air...

I thought there was as well but my turn signals seem to work fine.

OK so the Phillips screw with the little metal plate is the one that is gonna be holding the spring in it. the spring attaches to a small piece of plastic and what the spring and plastic do to gather is make sure your choke stays were you leave it. so if you are missing the spring your chock will slide down and not stay were you want it to be which sucks i been there when i lost my spring, since they don't sell the spring and force you to buy a whole dumb unit take a couple pens if you loose it hopefully you didn't loose the little plastic piece and take the spring out of them get a good strong spring or intertwin 2 to gather play with it if it feels like to much even with one cut a little off and try again.
I would love to shoot you a video of how to take it apart but my bike is going into the shop tomorrow and i seem to always loose that spring every time i open it up so i rather not mess with it tonight.

To resize:
[ img ][ /img ] is standard (with spaces added inside the [ and ] so you can see it in my post)
just add "width=800" after the first img (with 1 space in front of "width")
[ img width=800 ][ /img ]

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!
