Ahhh the solid food yak... what a treat to find lol  Anyways, Hastey likes to eat really fast like that sometimes and I slow her down by giving her tiny amounts of food over a 5 to 10 minute period of time. But who has time for that??

Another thing I've done that works is (as you mentioned) wet food. If I buy the pate kind, put a spoonful in her dish and then put some of the crunchy food over top of it, she is forced to chew cuz the pate is so thick. Plus my cats think it's a treat!

The canned food shouldn't get too expensive if you use it with the crunchy like I do. One regular can, split 3 ways between the 3 cats, lasts me two feedings. I am sure Dammit would love it! Pet him for me
