Hi Folks,

I figured I'd come here for the best info. I got a 2009 GS500F kill/start switch off ebay (to put on a totally different bike), and just have a question about the wiring. There are 4 wires going to the start switch as opposed to 2. What are the extra wires for? I can't seem to find a proper wiring diagram for the 2009.

Also the whole "having to do a pop quiz" thing to post on your forum is weird. Makes for smarter volume of users I guess? heh  :icon_razz:

Thanks

The quiz is to haze out the spam bots...

The extra wires... who knows?!..  what bike is the kill switch intended for? , you might need ti check the wire purpose on a forum for the bike switch is from!? :thumb:

I don't know which wires you have / are looking at though.

Cool thanks! It's the yellow/white and orange/red wires coming off the "Engine Starter Switch" and it goes to the dimmer switch? Is it like a feature that you can flash your high beams with the starter switch or something?

I believe that Yellow wire essentially grounds the hot end of the headlamp so that when you're starting the engine, it turns off the headlamp to reduce the additional load to the battery. I believe that's something that happened with the later model GS500s (like the one you're working with).
