replaced seals and piston, and spring in the master cylinder.  No change.  Was initially had to pump up and now puts up as much resistance and France in WW2.

hours of pumping, loosening and tightening and no change.  Then I saw it.

When tightened there are bubbles coming from the base (the threads) of the bleed nipple.

1. should any threads be showing at all or isn't it screwed down far enough?
2. would bubbles indicate a leak?
3. how the blooming hell do i mend it?

there, that covers it.

Cheers.

I don't think the threads necessarily go in all the way. The bleed screws should seal based on the bottom of the screw tightly  into the caliper. When tightened, nothing should come in or out of the bleeder. I'd unscrew it all the way and see if there's gunk in the bottom inside, and see the condition of the bottom of the bleed screw. If the screw appears to be in very good shape, it might be on the caliper end that doesn't mate with the bleed screw.

If I remember correctly, the screw should be an M7-1.0 thread. You should be able to get that at any auto parts store. Bring in your old one just to compare. (overall length isn't critical, as long as it isn't too short)
