Yes it is a metal spike that runs down (inside) my femur. The head bit is all metal too and there is a metal insert in my pelvis with a plastic cup in it. Truly I'm bionic now, but maybe at the cheap end of the scale. I've not had it long enough to try flying yet, but my wife had a knee replacement and going through security was a game and a half. Extra attention every time. I also have a bit of wire holding my ankle together, but that has not yet triggered the metal detector. Makes me wonder what happens in an MRI? As for going through the metal detector naked, I wonder if anyone would notice the alarm going off> Food for thought.

Good luck with trying to shake the cold and I hope the trial goes well. I'm not sure whether you want to be found guilty or not, but I hope you get the result you want. You can always try to fool the doctor that you don't have a cold by not breathing and surreptitious nose wiping.

I see a potential problem perhaps developing. had the spinal cord stimulator trial procedure performed this morning successfully. after epic anesthesia wore off spinal collumn itself from lower middle back to a fe inches above beltline. feels as tho i tried to pick up an obese person or a backbone after a HARD days manual labor. i feel it within a 6" spot  as i said  in middle back.  feels as tho i could use a good back crack. No i wont do that. it could be lethal lol. i called the minimed rep, letting her know. and asking whats next. as well as asking if this is to be expected during recovery. this was mainly done without local anesthesia because of the epidural fentanyl injection  but beyond that the procedure itself went off without a hitch. i have to be careful because the electrodes are not sutured in place like the permanent ones are. which is no big deal they are secured and the giant tegaderm bandage is securing the connection in place. the connection itself is sutured in place to minimise CSF LEAKAGE which for most part hasnt happened. ( minute amounts) typical but tolerable. but i cannot stretchbeyond a few degrees forward or back or sidewards. without risking breaking of connections. awaiting her reply as to what to do next if anything. will keep updated here. will also post a pic of the tegaderm cover but will have to edit the nsfw out of it. it is STIFF and if an addl degree of flex, painful. Damn i gripe too much lol . surgery is never painless nor is recovery. expecting as much is naieve. this localised discomfort tho im checking in on. will update as i know. or later on this afternoon. both more than likely. what i would give for a massage to that one location to immediate left of column though. lol.

its all good EJ my friend. i have high hopes with the the device trial. a tens unit which works from the inside out i can turn off the pain. something ive wanted to be able to do or at least change it. btw the minimed person said what i was feeling was recovery to be expected. she said it gets worse before it gets better. but thats ok.
for 48 hours im medically grounded. cant  stretch, bend over to get something off of floor, its fine by me. as long as i dont jar the electrodes loose in 24 hours. im good. NOW the funny part. for 24 hours i have to figure out how to do something i already know how to do. ie  get dressed. etc found myself at various points just standing there goin okay what next. im sorry yall dont want to hear about this. ill stop.

I seem to be boring people with this thread. although no ones said anything. its a feeling i get. i know its true because id update it,  with relevant info and id look at it from someone elses POV and think Wtf okaaay? im reading this why? i would use it as therapy. but even that doesnt help sometimes. have plenty of extra pictures, including the SCS ones buti have to look at those from a moderators POV because some could be considered NSFW. some of the daily actions although funny, again could be considered nsfw. or i know what happened that day but have a hard time putting it to words. ala writers block. considering making copy of the entire thread off board and figuring out what next to do with it. So i wont bore you my friends with this any longer. will figure out what to do with updates. it seems im unable to keep it short and to the point. ala cliffs notes lol. ive always been detail oriented. next juncture in the project ankle dept is monday the 2nd. this one will be a significant update. but i feel as though it can be added to the broken bones thread.

i had a detailed message written. then an amber alert froze phone now ill summarise it
New photos i cannot post because it shows the minor bleeding and csf leakage happening. could be NSFW sans edit. (yesterday) cant describe daily activity suspension ala medical grounding because it could be considered TMI. BUT  without posting it it neuters rest of story.Could enjoy goin mildly batty. mind is blocking me atm. i could talk about the SCS but that can wait. really ive covered everything. until monday and tuesday ( monday is ortho and plan for yet to be set ankle fracture. at 5 weeks. and wed is removal of SCS Trial device and its simulated turets outbursts lmao. but telling it now tells only part of it  So am suspending it until mondays procedure.  the simulated turets is nothing more than that. simulated. it involves me learning how to use the device lol. until then friends

i will go ahead and explain the SCS "simulated turets" it is kinda funny. i activate the device nerves start becoming happy.   or pain free. almost. anyhoo i set the power level.  this can be altered by body posture/position. if i lean fwd or back from straight upright it gets stronger, if i tilt head fwd or back, same. if im not ready for the increase, it can catch me by surprise. i usually say something funny and loudly. or if im gassy i could fart lol. ( happened at setup lmao ) doc didnt bat an eye and said " welllll. that part works" i have to get used to what triggers the increases. im kinda looking fwd to the perm one because it makes this pain more than tolerable. and it can be left on or cycled as needed. i was playing with it, set rate to 30hz solid, was listening to some music the 30hz was working with the music until i drop the remote. i lean forward to get it, forgetting what is about to happen and it gets QUITE a bit more intense. not painful but intense. i forget what i said  something like erno rubiks balls. ( have two of those infernal puzzles.) so this explains the " simulated turets" the utterance is always humerous. there WILL be an update to this aspect of the thread. because ive got church sunday. i may speak there also. lol. stay tuned.
Anyhoo update sunday on this, or may wait until monday and update both.

that could be very dangerous. the connections to the nerves are secured but not permanently . if electrode slips , best case, nothing more than a headache. 2. slightly worse, pain and probably i drop an Fbomb lol. beyond that id be in a hospital. course if i dropped an fbomb in church i could never show my face again.. that aside i could work movements just right to manipulate my voice. normally our church picks speakers. ( we dont have a paid clergy. speakers like myself are of the congregation.) but 1 day a month anybody can rise to speak on any subject. this sunday is that day. its perfect because i can test this device in detail mode plus i planned on speaking anyways.
But as far as this thread goes, mentally my mind is stifling itself because i dont want it to become a postwhore thread. that and most of the subject matter  ive already covered. except for the images from this spinal stimulator procedure. (post op) i will post this however you and i both know as mods first, blood and csf leakage could be an issue for some. so i have to edit or minimise that. ehh maybe not. i can always remove it or put up a NSFW warning. anyhoo that image, if i can get my hands on a copy of the xray film showing the actual connection to my spine, i WANT that one lol. kinda resmbles a bomb lol, the minimed rep/programmer who was assisting doc/surgeon has the only still copy of it. doc procedure is the xray machine shoots video for lack of a better term. so that still she has , would be my prized image lol. she calls every day to discuss the device so ill ask today if i can get a copy of it. then later on when internal one is put in. that one too. anyhoo  [/ramble off] i seem to jack and postwhore my own threads . so doing my best to keep this one on track. subject matter is all relevant well mostly lol. and i need to minimise the double and triple coverage of the same thing. ive plans when im able to get internet service again, migrating this data to a blog. this will be a few years long . site is getting a plug at the beginning when i launch it. a paragraph at the beginning actually. then the text from this plus additions .[/double ramble off]. just trying my best not to go batty in the process. which is why i self imposed the idle.
except for updates and developments. may get rid of the mental idle/thread idle, soon but right now only way i know if it will work is to try it. a few days

Hopefully minor update. strangest feeling ever. firstly the device is turned off. was planning on activating it. then retiring. making note of how body is feeling. in an instant picture someone flipping a light switch, body feels different. pressure at back half of head very slight nausea.. oh this plus the either developing or improving chest cold. running concurrently. active phlegmy cough. my temp yesterday was 1 over my normal of 97.5f ( mom and me both always in 97s) i was 98.9. oh not a headche at all just pressure. anyhoo figured it put this in. if its nothing more than a mild flu or whatever that would be ideal. problems with this device would not. idk will see. will bring it up with the minimed rep. the quick onset of this feeling literally .5 sec . will see what she says.

ok update.
Until i confer with medical today, ive narrowed it down to two possibilities. either the chest cold has developed ( cough productive lol when i dont try to stifle it.) no fever its 97.7f ( normal for me) stomach no nausea unless im coughing. painful as hell at the electrical/sensor conncections when i do. so yay no flu ( did take shot in october) stomach feels like its painful or empty  ( it isnt empty ) just overall pressure in my head (sinuses?)
Or its a mild version of a CSF headache. so time to be scarce for a while. just had to update.

Update. my body is telling me this discomfort was the chestcold i was trying to shake the other day. it wasnt shaking it was building. the head pressure etc and the productive cough. i have to stifle this cough as much as i can until the scar tissue builds up a bit. dont want to risk shifting the electrodes. would not be good.
moving on. the giant tegaderm about caused me to panic. i woke up in a coughing fit, and felt a new sensation. adhesive removal on lower right hand corner. the tegaderm is huge (8x10) the electrodes are far away from this percieved peeling feeling. and only way i can check dressing is to use the 6x4 bathroom mirror. what im feeling is the perimiter bandage peeling loose in that section. will have to reapply it by touch. (doable) it wont be pretty, would be like painting the mona lisa with crayons. ugly but there. .
Now church.
sunday as long as i dont have a high fever, im going. will carry a few of those flu masks with me though. if fever is 99f plus im going not going. going to talk with rep about all of this maybe within an hour. then plan next move.
Back to idle mode. have a bill to go pay today  around 5pm. Aaron

Mini-med Rep. a true jack of all trades and required master. firstly not really sales, but has to have intimate knowledge of the product. memorised. then nurse, computer programmer, and if need be, surgeon/pa-c with  a DEA number. ( mini-med, boston scientific, avensa etc.) and be on call from patients 24hrs a day. all of this without a grey hair on her body lol. moving on.
REP is concerned now because of the developing situation. now shes leaning twd a csf headache, with infection potential. infections im not normally worried about not even the sepsis episode post ORiF. my body can usually defend itself. what concerns me greatly about this is  i have 2 open lines into my immune system via ther spina lepidural area.  its not sealed because the electrodes havet o be removed at end of trial. if tegaderm fails it opens the door. ( fairly rare tho maybe 8% out of a tho)  myn ormal temp is 97.5 orshe said if it goes beyond 99.8 f i may end up in er dealing with meningitis.  cthe chest cold i have to stifle for another 18 hours before electrodes are safe.: with chest cold could dev. into bronchitis/pneumoniqa. but ill be fine. , guess this is why they dont like chest colds and such. will keep yall updated. thi s99 cent phone is dying going to give it a break for a few hour

Here comes yet another round of feeling like hell. as a diabetic  eating is a must. hell eating is essential to life. but to a diabetic even more so. totally today ive eaten maybe a thousand calories. the side effects of the SCS-T  are literally killing me.  im playing chicken with it. lets set that aside for the moment. this device, once implanted will give me my life back. my QOL was on a downward trajectory.  chronic pain = eating less, which exacerbates said chronic pain, which  makes me eat less. doctor in 07 puts me on med mgmt for this which helps.. ALOT. Anyways my QOL starts going upwards. ( QOL= quality of life) anyways ex friend calls again begging for meds. not directly but happens every time, small talk, then i say i dont have any pills. surprise call has to end lol.( still have nearly entire amt) im getting over his sh*t so i feign defeat and say you know what? you can have em all. ( oh hell no that aint happening ) i fill an old bottle full of pea gravels for weight, and similar noise value i meet him off property and toss him the pea gravels . he looks at that saying heh some friend you are, then his mouthy gf starts piping off. i interrupt her saying " this is an AB conversation i dont C you anywhere in it. mind your own business" seems the only way to get her to shut up is to piss  her off. back to him, i said some friend? hes complaining agaqin abouta bad day at work, and aches from an ankle FX over ayear old. i said whoopty effin doo. i point flashlight at plated ankle fx, he starts but but... i said i aint finished, then i remove aircast show7ng other 2 FX, BUT but .....i said im still not done. i turn raising my shirt showing the electrodes from the SCS - T. but but........im still not done ( well physically i was except for the headaches  and the stomach pain etc from the nausea and not eating much. said  now im done, now firstly, where the f&*k is your child?? hes like  roomates arfe watching him ( child is a bit over ayear old) i said wait a moment, u turn the scs back on and put aircast back in place.  i said sorry,if im going to go off on someone im going to even the odds for a bit. said now back on topic, you leave your infant son in the company in the company of pillheads,while you go to acquire pills. so you think. that is just not only f^&ked up,  its beyond morally wrong you could have left the minion at home.. she goes off lol. i said look at that house over there, lived in by a police detective, see the house beside it? a dcs worker who is Good at what she does. VERY good. then i pull phone out. i said cop friend willmake sure youre home in 5 minutes. dcs worker will be waiting as well. so if you want to pull that friend crap. heres a glass of GTFO. if that is what a friend is. around here ill do without. i never want to see your worthless pos faces ever again. im not worried about theft of those things. ive got nosy neighbours. plus theyre both lazy. called both neighbors, asking for a welfare check at their residence. anyhoo sorry. just returned from this.  trying to unwind from this. the infection im dealing with, ( plus chest cold etc) the side ffect from this is it stifles my appetite. i eat, i get nauseated etc, back to that vicious cycle. once side effects nd in all, its golden.  it felt good to finally get rid of that POS. once and for all. got my friends here im good . now i try to heal up or at least hold it together until after church. then i  can begin rest of work on me lol. a week of this then i will be able to sleep for a while
