Frame Slider Vibration?

Hi Everyone,

I recently installed R&G frame sliders on my GS. After taking it for a ride I noticed that anything above 3-4K rpms will make the bike vibrate much more that usual. Its noticeably apparent in the fairings, but also the rest of the front. This was the only thing done to my bike, other than replacing the air filter, so I'm convinced it has to be the sliders. At first I thought it was because the slider ends were making contact with the holes in the fairing that I cut. So, I used a dremel to widen them until there was no contact. Now I'm thinking that it may be the replacement bolt. The instructions that came with the sliders said not to exceed 40nm of torque, so I didn't. Do you think it is either too loose or too tight? I don't want to risk over tightening the bolt unless I know its safe to apply more torque. I tried to look at the torque specs but there are several bolts listed and I'm not sure which this one is called.

Hopefully someone, maybe those of you with the R&Gs, have some insight into this? Maybe its another problem entirely?

Thanks!

Try taking them off and seeing if the vibration remains. That should help you isolate the noise. Then put them back on later.

I put the stock engine bolt back on and the vibration seemed to be the same. But when I put the R&Gs back on once again and felt them while revving 4-5K, there was significant vibration...which makes me think its something other than the sliders then???

All the fairing bolts and brackets are back in their correct spots ans tightened up?

Just double checked, yes they are.

I'm going to try and further isolate the source of the vibration later tonight. When I last checked I held the throttle steady at 5K and felt the slider ends themselves, which are definitely transmitting the vibration. Its equal on both sides as well. But because the sliders do not make contact with the fairing though the holes I cut, it makes me believe that the slider bar is the source and its transmitting it through the frame.

I found one thread on here where someone ended up taking the R&Gs off because they couldn't get the vibration to stop, which would suck because of the holes I cut. But, given the successes many people have had with these, I'm hoping its fixable or just a really stupid newb mistake I'm making.
