Has anyone fitted a givi monorack to a gs500e? was it easy and do you have any pointers or pictures please! thanks

sotomoto

i ve fitted the kapa rack, exactly the same.

as i remember, i had to remove the side panels.

mattcymru

Are the side panels easy to come off?

sotomoto

easy but be carefull, except from screws they are attached
to the frame  in two points with rubber where you need to unhook

between side and the small central panel there are also screws but
as i remember, i didnt have to unscrew them, i had remove the
plastics as one piece.
2006 model here.

So is it just seat off first then unhook plastic to fix rack?

Hi Matt (taking a stab at Wales??)
Im in OZ and have just fitted a Shad system to my early 500e.  The duck tail part comes apart in 3 pieces if you really want to ensure nothing is damaged etc.  the two side panels have three plastic lugs that locate into rubber grommets in the frame.  1 by the fuel tank, 1 near the middle of the seat, low down and one near the tail light.  There are two screws at the top that attach the side panels to the frame and they're hard to miss.

The give systems have some extra bracketry but are much the same with arms that clamp onto the existing luggage hooks and (from memory) bolt through the side of the bracket for the tail light.  I took all the panels off because I found refitting them with the arms and top place in place damn near impossible. Give would have the instructions online and I'm sure you've looked them up already but some loosening, fitting, tightenting and re-adjusting can be needed to get everything together and not pulling your plastics out of shape or worse (breaking them).

Cheers mate and all the best with it.

That's brilliant, cheers Jimmy! I just need to get plastics off without causing damage now!

Ps what size box have you got too?

fakejimmymorgan

No worries Matt. Which part of God's country are you in? Most of my family are in and around Tredegar.

I'm further west than that in Pembrokeshire

fakejimmymorgan

No worries. My box is 37 litre from memory.

Got a problem guys! Stripped everything off and rail don't fit! :@ I was assured by supplier I need givi 526f for my x plate gs500e, I questioned I'd need 524f and they told me this was superseded by the 526f.well it don't fit so I think they're wrong. Hassle sending back now... I'll try and attach a pic of faulty fitting
