Proper Main Needle for 2001-2002 Carbs

All, Does anyone know the proper needle size for a 2001-2002 Carb ( not the jet size)? My Clymer manual says 5DH8 but all the part sites, including my local Suzuki dealer, want to sell me a 5DH42. I pulled 5DH8s out of my bike and wondering if this is why my bike has been running really poorly.
