Hallo.
I noticed today, when playing with the throttle on my GS500E i can make it backfire out off the exhaust.
Is this normal for a GS500?

I have mounted it with full Delkevic sport exhaust system, and have made no other adjustments.
Delkevic said no adjustments was reguired, however recommended to get most performance out off it.

I dont know if it also did backfire with the original exhaust

It behaves exacly like this motorcycle in this video does, its the same thing i do with the throtle to make it do it. Maybe a little less extreme.

thank you

I made mine backfire recently but I'm not sure if it helps you. Going for a ride and as a newbie learner i hit my kill switch unknowingly whilst going down a hill.

I was rolling and realized i lost power but i had already twisted the throttle and pushed fuel through.

I pulled over and took a minute to realize what I'd done. My dad circled back to see if i was ok and as i started it up it threw a 3 foot flame out the exhaust.  Went off like a shotgun.  I got out of there before the locals alerted the cops to a bikey war.  Good times

Backfiring is not that uncommon, you don't want it back firing into the carbs, but a bit of sputters out the pipe isn't too bad especially under shut throttle when you're engine braking.
Its not always an indication its lean.
Cool.

I've seen bits of the following post copied in various places around the interwebs so I tracked down the original and I post it here as I think it has some relevant info. Particularly the bit labeled 'burn baby burn'.
