Hallo
My clutch rod seal is leaking!
When i took the rod out, and turned the engine on, it just came out with oil, my local Suzuki dealer told me, thats not normal, so i have ordered a new seal for that one.

Does anyone here have experince with changing it? can it be done without need of special tools? any help will be apreciated.

I have tried google it, but i cant find any guides for this.

Also, the plate that is in place with two bolts, has a little metal pice on it so that the bolt cant turn out by them selv, to keep them locked. So i cant get my tools on it and screw it out. What do i do here? trying to cut it off? i dont think i can bent it.

I believe you replace the O ring right at that spot where it goes in. Anywhere else it doesn't have any more seals.
You just pick it out and replace it.
Cool.

If you take the rod out of course its going to leak oil  :D

Is it leaking when the rod is in place?

Yes a little.
The suzuki dealer told me that its should not be posible to come oil out of there??  :icon_eek: :icon_question: :icon_neutral: I did mention to him i had the rod out.

Also, i dont see how that simple metal stick can keep it closed so that the oil cant pass by??

Its actually an O ring if I recall. Yea pick it out with a pick - or a screwdriver if you must. Don't poke it with the screwdriver when installing it though.

Of course it is normal, think about it...........If there wasn't oil behind the rod that could leak out there would be no need for a seal!

Its a double lipped oil seal...dims are 6x34x7/10 and if there is no oil leaking past it with the rod in place there is no point in changing it.

Yes, normal for oil to come out with push-rod removed.

Just remove the backing plate and carefully pry it seal out through the center hole.

Haven't done the replacement on the GS500, but on an SV650 it's possible to push the seal in too far, there isn't anything behind it that it "bottoms out" on. So just to be on the safe side, note the position of the old one and don't push the new one in farther then that.
