Bar end mirrors...

I was wondering what the bar end mirrors use for the bolt that holds them to the handle bar. Do they use the same as the bar end weights use or are they different. Cos the earlier GS 89-2000 has those threaded inserts in the bars for weights....Do the bar end mirrors just screw into that.
Cool.

I have the Third-Eye bar ends. They have a "cork" type rubber plug that fits into the bar ends. The screw fits into a hole in the plug, and the mirror is attached with that screw. They work well and are not going anywhere - I had to hammer the plug in. I bought them at a bicycle shop for $12 - cheaper than the $60 the Ducati dealership was charging (different make, but same principle).

I am interested to see what they look like. Could you get a pic up on here?

I am welding a nut inside my bars for the bar end mirrors to bolt to... the press fit mirrors wont fit my bars as a press fit, the rubber/cork is too big, I'd have to remove it and thread it into the nut I have welded inside the bar... the wall is too thick in mine so the hole is rather small. That's why i wanted to know the thread size of the bolt that goes through it.

I can e-mail you a picture of the bar ends...or I can post them on my website and send you the URL...give me a sec to get them online :)

Srinath, My bars aren't stock - might have something to do with why the plug/stops fit in. A welded nut would work too. However, you could try getting bar ends that have a thread in them and screw the mirrors into the bar ends.[/img]

No... I am making custom handle bars for people on this site, and they are already made... with 3/16 wall steel tubing.... strong as hell... and I am trying to mod one to work with someone's needs. I have to get a nut in it... just what threads is all I need. Photo will be great, and put a ruler right next to/under it so size is easier to tell. Thanks a lot.
Cool.

Oh - I see...I'll take a picture with a ruler in the shot and send it to you (or post it somewhere). Gotta wait for daylight...
