I'm looking at the http://www.signaldynamics.com plug and play modulator for a 7" headlamp housing, I'd like to hear from anyone who has installed this especially regarding if it is truly plug and play or if there is some wire splicing to be done. All the modulators I've come across that say no splicing then go on to detail some splicing so it's a bit confusing.

This one requires no splicing

Our bulbs have the H4 connection.  You just unplug the electrical connector going to your headlight, plug that into the adapter and put the other end of the adapter on the headlight and you're good to go.

I might get one of these for myself, they pulse your headlight so people in cars are more likely to see you

@Lucas, some more research indicates a problem about which filament to modulate, I have written to them to find out if it can be used on low beam. For some reason that makes no sense whatever to me all the ones I've seen are hard wired to the high beam. Except for co-imagination's http://www.webbikeworld.com/Reviewed-motorcycle-products/comagination/visipath/visipath.htm I like this because you can swap the spade connectors over and modulate the low beam. However there have been complaints about this company due to them not responding to anything, I'm waiting for them to tell me why they don't recommend the low beam modulation and why they say they don't support it even thought it's easy to do. If I can get in touch with them I'll probably go for this one.

I've looked at the Kriss Double Eagle but which looks good but again it's a hi beam modulator. I've recently installed a Philips Vision Extreme 130+ H4 bulb and it's nice and visible on low beam as a very bright point light source during the day. I have it ever so slightly high, when I tried it on hi beam by having someone ride it towards me it was literally painful it was like looking at the sun, even from a distance of 200 feet! so modulating that would get me killed or arrested at the very least.

If any members are aware of a different good quality modulator that works to modulate the low beam please let me know.

I think the brake light modulators are not very useful because I do that manually anyway if I think it's necessary as I always glance in the mirror before braking out of habit. Some people seem to think headlight modulators flash the light on and off and are therefore dangerous but that is not what they do. To me the shimmering modulation effect really does attract attention.

Some people also seem to think that one shouldn't rely on a modulator to keep you out of trouble, but this is obvious, it's not instead of taking care, its as well as taking care.

Kriss.com who make the Double Eagle modulator seem like a bunch of asshats telling people on their website that if you call them you'd better buy something because they don't like people who call them then order a cheaper item elsewhere! They have no email on their website even though they say they do, all I have is a phone number and I'd buy their product if I could get some info from them about whether it can be used to modulate the low beam only.

@Janx, check out some you tube videos on modulated headlights, they don't flash on and off they go from full to about 20% 4 times a second so there's just this pulse that makes the headlight very very much more noticeable. Note they only work in the daytime.
