Air box fit

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, couldn't find any info:

Are all year's air boxes interchangeable? They look very close.
I have an '89 the needs boots and the entire air boxes(used) are same or less $ and more readily available.

I do believe they will all fit each other but there may be some differences with vents / drains.

Check out the parts diagrams of the different years on a website like partzilla.com.

If there are extra vents you can cap or plug them.  Adding a vent might be a pain if you're not comfortable drilling/glueing/modifying abs plastic

So my repaired fuel bowl is now leaking. Does anyone know if carbs from the '04-07 years will work on an '89? I can only find brand-new complete carb assemblies for mucho $$$.

IIRC the newer carbs use different boots, you'll have to change the boots along with the carbs.
