    I just noticed your provided links and am all over them! One think I can't understand is all the comments to the effect of it's better to just buy a faster bike than mess with these old air cooled twins. Don't they understand that tweaking things is the point? So what if it still isn't fast! When I was a kid I tweaked the family lawn mower! I threw away the head gasket and just used copper spray. It held!! I threw out the muffler and found a threaded pipe that fit. I painted that pipe with Some orange VHT.
Next I disabled the governor and threw out the air cleaner. You could hear that lawn mower three blocks away! Eventually, I took the motor apart and skelletonized the connecting rod. Nobody knew about all this until my dad decided to cut the grass one day when I was at camp. Boy, was he upset.  He got another mower and I put the Briggs in a bicycle frame and used a string for a throttle control. If I had been a part of this forum then, I would have been told to just get a bigger lawn mower.
