Gs 500 colour confusion

Hi guys, I'm about to purchase a 1994 gs 500 with full fairing. I'm very happy with all the details and things however there is one thing that concerns me, in all the documentation the v5 etc says that it is green, however I have done some googling and there is no gs500 that is green from 1994.

I typed the reg number into the government bike check thing, and it says it should be green and the first date of registration is 1994 however I can only find one like it from 1997 on the internet.
furthermore in the photos of the bike, it looks blue however I put that down to lighting and bad image quality.

I have found one which looks exactly the same on the web but it says it's only that colour and fully faired from 1997 onwards.

if anyone can help, that would be amazing.

thanks :)

Don't know if the paperwork is detailed enough, is it possible it was re-registered with a color change?

Original registration might be 1994 as a blue motorcycle, but if it was painted or had bodywork swapped and then was transferred to a second owner, wouldn't it then be registered as a green motorcycle?
So original registration in 1994 but current registration as green, put the two together excluding some finer details and you have a green motorcycle with original registration in 1994...

It's also possible that the original owner pulled some strings to get it in that color?  Maybe the Japanese market had a green GS500 in 1994 and the US market didn't, customer was adamant for the green one, dealer was able to get one from Japan?

Just speculation...

hi thanks for the reply. yeah that could be true, it's tough to say.
the one im thinking of getting looks exactly like this one here

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=1997+gs+500+teal&client=ms-android-om-lge&prmd=isvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjgsO7_7qvMAhVKJMAKHYiRDzgQ_AUIBygB&biw=360&bih=520#imgrc=oNv9QN-Zwz1APM%3A

however I think this is only available as a 1997 model and not a 1994.

anyway, is this something I should be worrying about? I was just a bit nervous it was stolen or something.

Thanks :)

I have a 95 with 89 white body on it.
Body swaps take 10 mins, and in a lot of cases the cleanest way to "un dent" a bike.
Its not "I crashed and forgot to fix it", its the I crashed and found the cleanest way to fix it and end up with a "uncrashed bike".

That teal is Fugly though. But who knows, maybe it was purple to begin with,

Oh, 97 came in that yellow/orange thing - yuck, you're probably better off with that teal.
I have a blue in the same pattern as the teal.

Cool.

Is it that weird Suzuki metallic teal colour? In which case for some purchase years the V5 will say 'blue', other times it will say 'green'. Its seems to be due to the DVLA not making its mind up whether teal is a blue or a green. I had the same thing with a late 90s bandit, which I thought might cause problems with insurance/MOT etc but luckily nobody cared and it ended up never being commented on.

Does it look like this one in candy teal blueish-green metallic?

Because this is a 1994 (M reg) candy teal blueish-green metallic with full fairing.

It also happens to say Green on its V5, the reason I know this is because its mine  :D

BTW...the paint-code is 1ZV

ah yes!! it looks exactly like that photo!! I've bought the bike now, and it's so annoying to have this amazing bike in the garden but I can't ride it! uk license laws are just the worst!
