Hey guys,

I am looking at putting a slip on exhaust on my gs as part of the ongoing work I am putting in tinkering with the bike.

I have been searching for two solid days now and just can't find a straight answer to my 1 burning question, how do I ensure proper fitment??

I have seen one post that mentioned the pipe diameter at the cut point, is that the driving factor? And if so what bike/bikes are equivalent for the important factors??

Cheers,

Lefty

I think personally mate the best way to do this is to get a slip on can that comes with the link pipe,

When I done mine I held the link pipe up against where the original end can started and that gave me the idea where to cut, to be honest it's pretty straight forward,

Just remember when making the cut you can always cut more off but not put it back on, so really it's just trial and error mate until you get it where you want. I don't think there is any real set in stone way of doing it because everyone does stuff differently. Just remember to put some exhaust paste on your joins then clamps on to ensure its all sealed with no leaks.

Sorry if this doesn't really help hopefully someone maybe has a better answer for you mate 😊

No that makes sense. Thanks for the reply, I'll keep the info in mind.

Any time man 👍 if I get to my old mans at the weekend I'll take a picture of the my exhaust set up on my gs and you can use it as reference if you want 😊

That'd ve sweet, did you find certain models just came with the link pipe or can you pick up more or less any of them and buy the link pipe on top of the can?

Also for any who stumble in here, if anyone has any opinions on yoshimura vs akrapovic vs another brand I would love to hear your opinions before I pull the trigger. I am looking for something with a db killer/silencer in it as I have no care to be obnoxiously loud but feedback on what you guys think of your slip ons would be great.

Currently I'm split between

akrapovic, not a specific model (really hard to find a site that just shows the different models) but something similar to the black exhaust shown here: https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/akrapovic-slip-on-line-exhaust.html, but probably in stainless as I am going to black out the rest of the bike so the pop will look good I think

and a yoshimura trc in stainless, https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/yoshimura-trc-slip-on-exhaust-1464312.html.

Leaning towards the yosh tbh but I won't decide for sure until I go to buy it in a couple weeks here (assuming all goes according to plan).

Well I've got a pipeworx end can on my gs500 mate and to be honest I don't think they actually make them for it, I've no idea what mines from originally I bought the link pipe separately from a lad on eBay and then just measured the external diameter so I new what size end can I needed and asked a few of my bike mates and one had this pipeworx can that fit perfectly so mines kinda a chop up haha, still looks as it should though.

I hear the delkevic ones are menna be not bad value for money aswell

Those prices look great but after conversion and shipping I think I'd come out behind even on some of the more expensive systems available over here.

Suzuki Stevo

The only aftermarket Slip-Ons I buy are Yoshimura and Staintune, both are a quality product without being obnoxiously loud, if you like loud and want to let everyone around you know when your spooling up (LEOS) buy any other brand and enjoy the attention  :thumb:

Yah no interest in being obnoxiously loud on my end. In fact I checked and dounle checked the trc shipped with a db killer haha.

Leaning very far towards the yosh at this point, akro seems like it'll be more expensive if anything and I can't stop loving the look of this trc pipe.

Anyone know what the pipe diameter is or the model equivalent that'll get me closest to the gs pipes? Least amount of custom fab the better of course.

Mines insanely loud to be fare but I loved it because it popped and crackled when you roll of the throttle, actually spat flames a couple of times on a cold start 😂

My Jardine pops off throttle too. I have a decently silent helmet and wear ear plugs too but I can sometimes hear it nonetheless.
