Newbie here, bought a 92 GS500E and am in the process of restoring it as I learn to ride. Going to the safety course to get my license this week and my only problem with the bike is as a large man (6'5", 275lbs) with broad shoulders...I can't see much out of the stock rear view mirrors. I am looking into options, if anyone else has had similar issues let me know what you did.

Thanks!

I think one of the most common solutions is to install bar end mirrors.

Alternatively, I think you can get extenders for the factory mirrors that push them out/up a couple inches to either side, similar to these: Twisted Throttle Mirror Extenders

I had seen the bar end mirrors, but these extenders look like a great option too. Thanks for your input.

BTW, I'm betting there are cheaper options available than those extenders for $90. The only thing to acknowledge is the added vibration you may notice from some versions of them depending on materials and construction.

Gonna throw a vote in here for bar ends, for a cheaper option there's these: https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/bikemaster-folding-bar-end-mirror-fhm005f-k.html

or the CRG ones if you want to go premium. I have the bikemaster mirrors ATM and they're awesome for the price. Field of view is insanely big compared to the stock mirrors and IMO they look sick. If you want a perfect experience you'll want the CRG mirrrors as the bikemaster ones have a little distortion at 5000+ rpm from vibrations but I don't find this to be an issue as I am not often looking at my mirrors while revving up the bike that far.

One big warning I'll give is these do not remove and reinstall easily, I bent my bars and had to basically epoxy weld them into the new bars, I'll be getting a new set if I ever have reason to replace the bars again.

I use the risers,on different mirrors and on different bikes .
They work well with minimal added vibration(NO cheap Chinese mirrors though) and are great for versatility should u wanna move your mirrors in/out or change completely. They also make it easy to clear the choke lever.

As tempting as those $1.99 mirrors are on Amazon, I try to stay away from "deals" like that and buy a quality product. Thanks to you both for the additional input. I like the idea of being able to keep the stock mirrors by using the extenders.
