So I was reading through the Canadian Motor Vehicle act, just checking on legality of turn signals and things and came across this bit on license plates:

QuoteVertical position permitted for motorcycles
3.021  Despite section 3.02, a number plate may be attached in vertical position on the left front fork of a motorcycle, with the first number or letter at the bottom of the fork.

So I'm thinking about making a bracket up to run off the fork brace mounting holes on the fork.

Not certain about how I would mount the top portion, thinking maybe a ring with a nylon slider to ride the fork cylinder or something.

Thought? Feelings? Suggestions on how this could look good?

you have license plates on the front? I'm confused.

Its legal to mount the plate on the front as detailed above. I'm thinking it could be cool mod and clean up the back end

I think it would be more unsightly in front.  You may also inadvertently affect steering response at higher speeds, if the license plate catches wind.  Or it might be fine.

A common mod if you just want to be different is to mount to the swingarm off to either side.

Really interesting!!! Would be cool to see what you come up with for sure.
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

My worry is that it will be ugly, might just do it up and have an alternate bracket for the back end in case it looks terrible haha.

I don't think it's legal to mount the plate vertical on the rear end so the swingarm bracket is a non starter.
