Rough gearing when idle, can't find neutral

Hey guys.
Back again with another issue. The last one was resolved by a timing chain tensioner replacememt. Now I rode her for a bit and the gearing is fine when riding, though shifting into first feels clunky at times. When idle, if I'm in first and at a stop, I can't kick it up for the life of me, and when I do it skips roughly into 2nd, no neutral, same as with 2nd - just drops into first, no matter how gently I try to shift it.
Tried lubing and adjusting the clutch cable freeplay, gears run smoother but the neutral problem is still there. It also gained an annoying ticking sound out of nowhere when idle.

The following will cause the gearchange to be difficult particularly finding Neutral ( like finding Nemo but oilier):
First and formost. A dragging clutch when supposedly disengaged. Worn, incorrectly adjusted, too high a viscosity oil, damaged clutch surfaces. Sometimes particular bikes don't like particular oils. The worst I ever owned was a SV650 motored Cagiva Raptor. Put Motul in it and the gear changes  became a nightmare, particularly finding neutral. Changed to something else and worked fine.

The one everyone neglects is the position and orientation of the gearchange lever/footpegs. Even changing boots can effect it. If it is difficult even when using your hand to move the lever it ain't that. Even changing your seat or handlebars or footpegs will effect how your foot sits and can articulate the lever.

I personally use Liqui Molly oil...my mechanic said it was low and he added more, could this be it?

And BTW - as soon as I shut off the engine the gears work smooth as butter.

After reading the comments there and on a few simmilair threads I decided to say "f@#k it" and took her out on a manditory Saturday ride. A little bit of burning smell (oil was overfilled a tad to much) but the gearing felt better and better as the miles went up.

Mine does it routinely. In fact every bike I've ridden, from a GSX-R 1100 that genuinely attempted to kill me by righting itself when braking into or accelerating out of bends, to two difference Harley Davidsons that otherwise both felt like riding a brontosaurus, have done this. Hell, even the Honda 200 at the safety course once upon a time did this, and that was a new bike factory maintained.

I usually find first (by yelling and jumping on the lever like a sociopath) and then clutch the bike a few cm forward and nudge the lever  up and I get a green light. Sometimes I just give up. I don't recommend jumping and yelling, it'll end up damaging things, but it just feels so much better and there's no sense not getting a smile out of life.

Alright, took her to the mechanic yesterday. He said he let his intern handle the oil (I trust the mechanic completely) and he drained what looked like half a liter of oil. She sounds great now, had no trouble finding neutral at all when warmed up, and I even took her for a 100 KM night ride into the countryside for a little stargazing and fresh air.

I often pet the gas tank and say "good girl" or just scream "Love, Scarlett darling, LOVE". I love this bike, wouldn't trade her for the world :)
