If you're not familiar with these helmets, you should take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with them.

We interviewed Brad, the owner of Kali on The Pace: http://thepacepodcast.com/archives/3191

Their site: https://kaliprotectives.com/moto

They're revamping their offerings and paring down how many models they offer. Anyway, what we have here is a BRAND NEW Nira Stripe in size Large. This was part of a special purchase sponsored by The Pace, and the guy who bought this one doesn't fit it. He's a long-oval, and this is more a like wide-oval-to-round. Fits me nicely. Anyway, we bought it back from him and I'm offering it at a ridiculously low price to move it along to someone who may need it. I use a Naza very often, and I absolutely love Kali's helmets.

$100 shipped to the CON US 48. Includes different-sized cheek pads, helmet bag, manual. Again, this is a NEW helmet.

Just DOT certified? Or am I missing the snell label?

Correct. DOT. Brad had issues with Snell's old testing practices that didn't map to the real world in any meaningful way (I assume you're familiar with how Snell was forced to change their testing practices...?).

I believe he's on board with Snell for the upcoming new series.

FWIW, my wife went down hard and bounced off a guardrail in her Kali when a truck came around a curve and spooked her on a decreasing radius train wreck of a turn in WV, and walked away without injury. Her face slid across two lanes of road and her head hit the guard rail. We chose to replace the helmet with another one based on that impact. #anecdotal

IMO, old-snell was over-relied-on and was a great reason to mark up prices higher. I haven't bothered looking into the new practices. I have a Kali, an HJC, and a Caberg. I think only the HJC is snell, but it's old spec.

Unfortunately, DOT tends to really mean nothing. Any brain bucket can get a DOT certification, but doesn't mean I'd trust it to contain even my brains if I go down.

That said, it looks like Kali is doing their research, but without something like a SNELL certification or comparable real world testing results, it's going to be a tough sell.

Is that helmet compatible with any other aftermarket shields or anything? I absolutely have to have a dark smoke shield for daytime riding since my eyes are very sensitive to bright sun.

Kali is their own manufacturing, so I'm not aware of any cross fitments. Looks like their site is in a bit of a refit for the new models. Might have to call or email, but they have smoked/tinted visors as well.
