Hi, I've noticed my left exhaust pipe is leaking air, where it's connecting with the engine. I've noticed before because I could hear that the sound wasn't as deep and it was coming from the front. I got one of the screws tightened and it was fine. started again, so I added washers because the screw is pretty much done (it's a 2002).
Now it does it again, so I went to the garage with gaskets to install, but he tells me that maybe the exhaust is broken.. I'd like a second opinion on that.

Could that be it?

Pics? .. close up and best resolution you can get!

When he says broken..  what bit is broken?.  Pipes?, studs? Or other?

MickieP

He didn't tell me, he didn't check yet, he just told me that the exhaust might be broken..
I don't know why but it won't allow me to post pictures.. even with only one pic it tells me that the upload thing is full  :technical:

So he is telling you the pipe may be broken but he hasn't actually seen it yet?.....to me that's a fair comment.

Its probably just a failed gasket but until the pipe, the flange and the fixings are inspected how is anyone expected to know exactly whats wrong?

MickieP

okay, I guess I'll see tomorow.. I hope it's just the gasket.
Anyway, thank you for the replies ! it always amazes me how fast you get responses on this forum !

If you do end up putting on new gaskets which is likely, then you'll want to source yourself a little pick to hook into the side of the crush gasket they are a pig to get out, although you might get lucky.
