Question about idling

Hiya again guys and gals.  I've read that the typical idle of a GS should be around 1200ish.  My 2007 after sitting and warming up for 5 or so minutes  in the driveway sits on about 1300-1400.  But after riding it for 20 or so minutes,  it seems to want to idle at around 1500-1600 (on a warm day/evening)   is this okay and/or normal or should i try to back it off a bit? Any bad things that can happen with it idling a little higher?  The previous owner said he had a tech turn the idle up a little.  My guess is that he did it so it wouldn't die when trying to idle at a cold start but i don't really know for sure. Should i get it hot after a 20-30 miunte ride and then try to back it down to 1200 or is it likely OK as is? Thanks for any info.  You all are really helpful to us noobs and it's much appreciated.

As long as you've made sure the bike isn't having any fuel management issues (running lean or rich), I don't think that a couple hundred RPMs at idle would cause any problems... If you want it to idle lower, you could always loosen the idle screw.

If you want to set your idle speed you need to do it after a 20 minute ride.

EDIT: I was just checking the oil so I took the opportunity to check idle speed after 5 minutes. The outside temperature is a balmy 22C, after a minute with enough choke to idle at 1500, I pushed the choke in and it was idling at 1000, after 5 full minutes it was still idling at 1000, but I know that when fully warmed up it will idle at 12-1300.

So set your idle to 1000-1050 after 5 minutes and I think you'll be good to go.
