general torque query

I'm pretty sure that my bike 26000kms has never been re torqued apart from things that are removed due to normal work, like cylinder head bolts, rear wheel axle nut, crankcase side covers. All the engine mounting bolts and lapped frame bolts seem good, so I was wondering if I should re torque them anyway and if I do should I break them first and if I do break them should I re torque with oil on the thread, and if I do need to use oil on the thread what would the procedure be. My gut reaction is that nothing really needs to be done.

your gut reaction is right. it wont hurt to inspect things when cleaning or doing routine work like oiling the chain, but factory tight generally stays tight. its a suzuki, not an arby dabidson

Never lube threads when torquing fastenings

@Sledge, I wondered about this when I recently re torqued the cylinder head bolts, the ones under the valve cover are already covered in oil, so I presume that the torque settings for those particular nuts take that into account?!
