Batteries again

The battery died after a couple of months in storage, despite regular starting and charging twice, so it's time for a new one. They cost a lot in Canada perhaps because of our small market. Has anyone bought one lately  in a generic store...... and found a good deal?
I don't want to buy until April to maximise the lousy 3 month warranty, but will be in the Seattle area once or twice before then.

do you have any wal-marts there , does canadian tire have anything like that, or sears any of the above in the area? :dunno:

I bought a nice one for $45 from Interstate Batteries that is a direct replacement.  Is there an Interstate distribuitor in your kneck of the woods?  I really like it so far, and the price was right.

I got a sealed battery from sears... die-hard but its really a yuasa-ytx 12 I think.... anyway wouldnt recommend it ONLY because they want $80 for it.. luckily the guys working at the sears in yonkers are 1) idiots, 2) desperate to make a commission, so I convinced him that it must have been in the wrong box because $79.99 was way too much for a motorcycle battery... so he sold it to me for $28.   Thing was, they were totally disorganized and had no clue as to any of the specs of their batteries... claim they lost the book... so I showed him a box which was advertising a sealed battery which, when I opened it, definitley was not a sealed battery..... so he knew that their inventory was all screwed up....

anyway I'd try to find a sealed battery for ~$30, like the walmart everstart ES12 or similar..... i actually found that battery under the brand name champion at another auto parts store for $40 (no walmarts around here). BTW- gotta mount the sealed battery on its side, but its worth it since its a better battery which shouldnt give as many problems ("maintenance free")

Also I think the sealed ones are better mounted on the side.

Look up Interstate and Sears.com and see it they have any locations near you.

Ok this story reminded me.... never never never buy a battery from a place like walmart or similar without checking to se if the battery in the box is the same as the one the box says it is... Why... I have often, many many times opened the battery box at a store only to find that the battery inside the tihng is used or wrong or somehting similar. The reason is... they have the core exchange deal, so people that bring back cores tend to put the old thing in the box they bought the battery in. That looks nice and new like a new battery does, and after they get their core charge $5, the dude/dudette at the return counter has to remember to move the battery to the recycle area in the back.... They usually put it with the rest of the returns, and it ends up getting "restocked"... voila... you buy it and you are screwed.

Thanks for the advice.......... never even thought of Walmart, so will give 'em a try. Also, I'll be sure to open the box  Sears is hopeless locally and the Suzuki dealer wanted nearly 90 bucks (US converted).
