slight knock

my gs has an intermittant knock at idle, not loud but its a worry..after looking for new bearings/gasket sets etc i thought it would be cheaper to buy another motor...the ones i have seen on the internet seem to have broken mounts/cut off bolts/broken exhaust studs all for silly money, also my engine doesnt look original (M501) in a 2004 frame ( bike was a CAT C ) so might explain that...if anyone knows what motor should be fitted.
