Engine turns, but wont start

Hey there,
My 91 Gs500E has been sitting for a few months and I just put a fresh battery in it to start it up again, but can't seem to get the engine to fire. It turns and I play with the clutch and throttle to try to get it to go, but all that's happened is It's started for a second or two then dies again. Any suggestions? I suspect it might be a fuel issue, but I really don't know.

I'd first check that no critters made a home in your air filter, then set the petcock to PRI and try again.

Did you put any fuel stabilizer in the tank before storage?
