The crash course is:

Someone challenges the forum to take a picture of your bike with ______.
If you are the first to get and upload said picture, you "win".
"Winners" name the next challenge.

Hooray another picture game player!!!

I don't have a smart phone so I can't give any real helpful input... but my old vx5400 can actually view the forum!!! :thumb:

LOL Showbiz.  I thought that I was the last hold-out in the world to have not taken up the overwhelming smartphone trend.  Somehow I just totally missed getting on board with those over the years.  Funny, I don't remember living under a rock....

Ok so false alarm. Now the bike won't turn on without the choke on. If I turn it off it does. If I roll on the throttle it dies. Am I running lean? I don't understand how last night she was running fine but now she's doing this again.

I don't bother with any of those forum viewer apps, I just use the browser on my phone (currently Chrome) to view and operate the forum.  Typically forums have a more mobile friendly view that automatically gets used, or I often use the "request desktop page" feature.

Anyway, in regards to your GS, it should require choke to start, and may not like throttle immediately.  That is natural.
You should let it idle choke on until the idle naturally rises to a few thousand, at this time you can usually set the choke to "half", toss a leg over, and start riding.
When the idle once again seems high, or sometimes you can feel the engine wanting to still pull you at zero throttle, you can set the choke off.
Usually this is a minute or less in the driveway then a few blocks down the road.

I typically choke it and start it, THEN finish gearing up like zip my jacket, put on my helmet and gloves, activate my Bluetooth and camera, toss a leg over, turn the choke down a little, then head out.
Once I get through my apartment complex and to the first major street I can usually switch it the rest of the way off.

If the choke is on then this is exactly what it is supposed to do.

Start it with choke.

It'll rev to 5K+ rpms

let it warm up for a minute or two this way

turn choke off or mostly off

go ride

after 5 minutes make sure choke is all the way off

after about 10-15 minutes of riding it'll be warm enough that you can set the idle speed and mixture. I'd start with idle speed and see how that goes.

I like tapatalk. Since this forum doesn't have any photo storage space available, it makes for easy/quick photo uploads. There are some other cool features too, but that one is my favorite.

Its finally actually up and running. Turns out a few things loosened up when the bike fell so I tightened everything up on the handle bars. And re leveled my left float. That one was running lean. Now she's purring away. She's running a lot better than when I got her. Definitely have noticed an increase in acceleration.
