Re-installing factory links

The bike I just bought was female owned, and her h asusband had a lowering link kit installed to lower the seat. He gave me the stock links and said that putting it back to factory height is just a matter of installing these links. I am thinking of doing this, but was wondering if anyone had done this and how much work it is.

Since my bike has fairings, I'm guessing it also means taking it all off. I'm 5'11" and I haven't felt it was too low, but having it a tad higher might be nice.

Thoughts?

If you have the center stand still, it should be pretty straight forward....put on center stand, support rear tire, get ready for tire to drop when the first bolt is removed, did it on my Wee Strom, not the GS.

It is easy. Just put it up on the centre stand, remove the pin, replace the dogbones and replace pin. Th only really difficult bit is supporting the wheel as the pin comes out/goes back in. SHould take you no time at all,

Yea they are generally correct, but park it on a little concrete paver or a 2X4 piece on the centerstand, so the rear wheel has somewhere to "drop" to.

Taking a look at the location of the top of the "dog bone", I'm guessing that this also means removing the plastics from the bike? Correct?

Any one know the proper torque of the bolts for the links?

How much lower are your lowering links? I only ask because if you have them kicking around after doing the swap and don't want them, I may be interested if they are under an inch.

I changed mine twice (lowered and then raised back) and didn't take the plastics off, as I remember.

I can check the size if you want, but new custom sized ones are only about US$18. I suspect it would cost nearly as much to ship them to you. But if you want them I will.
