I haven't posted here for quite a while, years probably but I do have a "lurk" from time to time the old GS is still dear to me. It seems appropriate that I post this on June 6th, the longest day.    In mid August I, along with half a dozen other bikers from U.K. will be visiting the Normandy Beaches and sites of interest in that area. it is probably ten years since I last did this when as well as the beaches I visited the huge U.S. cemetery in Brittany near where U.S. forces broke out from the Normandy Bocage into open country.    When I mentioned my intentions before going a couple of members from this forum asked me to remember fallen family members, a couple of grandfathers as I recall. This time I will visit Utah beach and the Ranger memorial so if any forum member would like someone specific remembered I will read out the names when there. I cannot undertake to find individual graves but my group will show the correct respect. Keep riding and ride safe.

Back in the mid 80s when I was a younger man myself and friends wouldnt think twice of blasting over the channel to Magny-Cours to watch the Bol'dor (The most famous bike event you have never heard of). About 14 hours to get there from sunny Manchester and 1400+ miles in a weekend was the norm. Tunnel hadn't opened then so it was shut-eye on the ferry

I had a CBX550f2 at the time. I had a spare speedo head for it and used to swap it over with the original before setting off so the miles wouldn't show 


Inboard front disc and comstars......its still one of my all time favourite machines 

But I digress.....

We called at the beaches on the way back once, it was a very very moving experience and not something I will ever forget. I hope you enjoy the trip.
