Motorbike helmet with a rear-view mirror

By Steve Newman, London Press Service
THE world’s first motorsport helmet with a built-in, unbreakable rear-view mirror
system has been developed by a UK company after 10 years of research.
The simple concept - set to revolutionise
motorcycle safety across the globe - has been
devised by Reevu, based in north-east England.
Light is fed from the back of the helmet through
a series of lenses inside a plastic crest to an
unbreakable mirror above the eyes. A simple
glance upwards gives a view of the road behind.
The company says there are also potential
applications for the helmet in skiing, horse
riding and for security, fire and rescue and
police work.
The RV MSX1 helmets feature innovative and
world-leading technology. Reevu has spent
10 years developing the helmets that are
designed to save lives by preventing accidents
as well as protecting motorsport riders during
an accident.
The Reevu unbreakable mirror is an integral
optic system known as MROS (multiple
reflective optic system).
The optic system is made from bullet-proof
ABS, is much lighter and safer than glass or
metal and is virtually unbreakable.
The innovative and world-leading technology
allows wearers to see the road behind as well
as in front of them by using a system of
unbreakable mirrors constructed out of ABS
that are fitted inside the helmet mould.
The helmet has been designed to ensure that
it meets all international safety standards and
is of a similar size and weight to conventional
protected helmets.
Billy Morgan, Reevu’s chief executive, said:
“This is a world first that has been 10 years in
the making. It is far better to prevent accidents
that merely provide protection, and the world
leading technology we have incorporated into
the RV MSX1 helmet will make this product a
complete revolution compared with what is
currently available.
“We are making a conscious decision to ensure
that the Reevu motorsport helmet arrives on
retailers’ shelves with an affordable price tag.
I believe that this safety innovation is so
important that it will transform the way people
ride motorbikes, and significantly reduce deaths
and accidents on the road. Every other vehicle
on the road has to have rear-view mirrors, but
with motorbikes it just doesn’t work efficiently
because as you turn the handles your view
moves. This helmet removes that problem, and
that is why it will be such a revolution across
the world,” he added.

The Department of Motor Vehicle will probably still insist that the bike have mirrors.

"The reason I don't have any mirrors on the bike officer is I have them in my helmet."
Riiiiiight.

Reminds me of an old joke......

Cop pulls over this women for speeding, as he's checking her drivers license....

Mam, it says here you should be wearing glasses.

But officer I have contacts.

Look, I don't care who you know. You're supposed to be glasses while you drive!
