GS500F - Slow to Start - Bad Starter?

Hi again, back with another problem.

Carbs are good, Battery is good (6 month old maintenance free battery), but it just takes forever to attempt to start. I would hold onto the ignition switch and hear a single click. I would have to do this multiple times or hold onto it before it starts to turn over. Is my Starter Relay bad?

This started happening when I was cleaning the gas tank with rubbing alcohol to remove some sticky residue from tape that covered my gas cap.

Also a small problem is my LED indicators stopped working. The turn signal LED doesn't blink anymore, nor does the Headlight LED. Wiring issue? Turn signals and lights are all fine.

Battery is low, not charging. Could be a bad battery but more likely bad regulator/rectifier or wiring connecting to it.

The LED signals don't work because the battery is low. Battery is low because it is not getting charged.

Battery readings were fine at +12V. All other lights work. I thought the LED lights would have a smaller load than the other lights which work fine.

Corrosion on the battery terminals. Undo the connections, clean and retry.

Get the battery load test at a shop. 12v across the terminals when its sat there doing FA means nothing.

Its how much current it can deliver and how much the voltage drops under load that matters.

The battery is always the weak link in the charging system and the component most likely to fail, you need to be 100% sure its serviceable before anything else.

The battery should be 12+ at rest, no lower than 10 during start-up, and over 13.5 at 5000 rpm. Check those and let us know what you find.

Humm if I undertand it well, you can hear the relay: "click", but the electric motor will not move.

This may be due to the relay itself, or due to the faston leads in the relay (corroded or very dirty) or due to the positive starter motor wiring that is not propperly connected.

If it was due to bad battery or corroded terminals, you could hear the "click" and you could hear the starter motor turning at low speed or trying to move the engine but at low speed.

Get a can of contact cleaner at a local store and start cleaning faston terminals.

Just resolved the issue.

Battery is good (+12V). I felt the solenoid and it was pretty hot when I would attempt to start it. I replaced it with the original that I thought was bad (at the time, the problem was the battery) and it starts without issue. Still not sure how to fix the LEDs that indicate the headlight on or turn signal on, but thanks for the help everyone.
