Bike Bucket List

I was talking with a buddy of mine about what bikes we want to ride but haven't gotten the chance yet. So, I thought this would be a fun idea for a thread.

My bike bucket list:

Any top-tier super/hyperbike, a la BMW S1000RR, Ducati Panigale 1299 R, Yamaha R1M, Kawasaki H2, etc. (Because I want to know what riding the pinnacle of current bike technology is like)
1985 Suzuki GSXR-750 (The bike that started the race-replica trend)
Honda Grom or Kawasaki Z125 (Fun times will be had)
Buell XB12R Firebolt (I just think they're cool lol)
Any really old (like WWI era) Harley or Indian (Who wouldn't?)

So, what's on your bike bucket list?

Watcher

I've owned a Buell XB12 and gotten to ride a Z125 and they're both a riot!  That Buell is just insane for torque and the little Z will put a smile on your face with it's hyper-maneuverability and utter impracticality.

Don't really have a "must ride at least once" list but I do have "must own at some point" list.

Topping it off is another GS500.  I've had two, currently own none, and although it would basically fill the same role as my Duc Monster I feel drawn to it ever still.  Maybe I will, maybe I won't.  It's a bike I always get nostalgic over and talk myself out of getting.  There are other more useful bikes I could get instead.

DRZ400S.  I've wanted a dual purpose ever since learning to ride on a TW200, and now that I have mountains a short ride away I feel like an off-road capable motorcycle is a must have.  400cc strikes me as a good balance between weight and on-road performance, everyone else either goes 250 or 650 and I'm thinking those are too small and too big...

R3/RC390/CBR300R.  I want an itty bitty track bike to learn how to corner like a boss, and potentially if I get good I could really get some enjoyment out of putting larger bikes to shame.  Something that if I wreck on I won't be out a ton of $$ nor feel too bad about it.

SSR Razkull.  Think GROM, but carburetted and styled after the Ducati Monster.  Also, they're only like $2000...  I'd love a little 5/8 scale Monster to complement my M750!

CB500X/VSTROM/Versys.  I'm not super into the adventure style bikes, but I'm a lot less into cruisers and touring type bikes, and I would like something more capable of being comfortable for a distance that I could load up with bags and go cross country on.  The GS could be that, but I'd definitely prefer fuel injection for multiple changes in climate and elevation.  Plus I don't want some huge engine or something ridiculously expensive (looking at you Yamaha/BMW/MVAgusta).
The Honda CB500X has an engine I'm familiar with, and I'd go X in a heartbeat, but Honda likes to put their turn signals and horn in the wrong spot and for a bike I'd only use on occasion I think that's enough of a hassle to be a deal breaker...

Here's the only bike I think I'd need to ride before adding to my list.
Honda Rebel 500.  The new style, which is kind of bobbed out.  I'm not really a cruiser guy, I've tried riding cruisers many times and either I am unimpressed or get back pain, but I'd like to try the Honda.  It's got an engine I'm familiar with, I like the look, and the mid-set controls don't seem as bad as forward controls.  It's a cruiser I could own, but a ride will tell me if it's a cruiser I can own.

Bikes I'd like to own:

Yamaha FZ-07. I've got to ride one before I make a final decision, but I'm 99% sure this will be my next bike. The Yamaha dealership on the other side of Cincy had a demo day a couple weeks back, but I didn't find out about it until the day before and already had plans. I'm keeping an eye out for another one, but they don't have anything on the schedule for the rest of the year at this point. I'm not in a big hurry, as the GS currently fulfills all of my needs. With a wife and two young kids, most of my riding is my 29 mile round trip commute to work. It's a couple of straight farm roads, about 5 miles of twisties, and a touch of residential stop and go. The GS only has 13,xxx on it, and I just can't justify upgrading from it yet. One day, though.

A touring bike of some sort. I'd like to have something I could take on long highway rides, and something my wife would be comfortable riding pillion on should she ever have the desire. This is one that won't be on a serious list until the kids are grown.

A dirt bike or small dual sport, especially if my son is interested in riding when he's a little older.

Bikes I'd like to ride:

I want an adventure bike, so bad. Unfortunately, living in the midwest this bike would serve me virtually zero purpose so this would probably more fall into the list of bikes I'd like to ride. I really like the BMW GS bikes.

Harley. I can't say I'd ever want to own one, but it's crossed my mind. If I rode one and liked it, I wouldn't be opposed to owning one as a second bike. It would never be the only bike in my garage.

A supersport, and a Grom...just because.

My list is probably quite generic:

R6 and R1
sv650 and sv1000
daytona 675 and a speed triple
Duke
MT09
Maybe a ninja 600+ and maybe a Gixer 600+

I have never given it too much thought because I'm really happy with the vehicles I have. But one time last summer I stopped by the local dealership in my town and threw a leg over a few different bikes.

One of 'em was a Yamaha something... maybe a 400 or a 500... totally uncomfortable for me.

Then I saw a huge Kawasaki Ninja... 1400 it had to be. I was soooo comfortable on it!!!

I also saw in the back a used Katana 750 in yellow... reminded me of my one ex who had one and loved it. Many people think they are ugly af but I like them.

Anyway... I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe some day I'd like to own a bike like that Kawa or of course, a 'Busa... and maybe a Katana. That's all. I'm a pretty simple chicky sometimes :thumb:
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

A bike bucket list - definitely an intriguing idea.

Honda CBR650F - possibly my next bike (in some far off day), a significant upgrade in both HP and torque, but not to ridiculous levels. I've thrown a leg over and it feels very comfortable, and I like the bump up in power without being outrageous. I'm well past the stage where I want a bike that can do 250+km/hr, but I really would like something a bit quicker than the GS

Yamaha FZ6R - as above, but a little less so.

BMW F800GT - more of the above, but a parallel twin rather than a inline 4. I'd like to try this one to see if it's worth the extra cash, and whether the name is all that you pay for.

Ducati Scrambler - I love the styling of this one. I captures the feel of bikes from long ago (nostalgia reigns supreme), but with modern technology. I would love to find out if it rides as well as it looks.

Suzuki SV650 - again I threw a leg over this one and liked the feel. I would be interested to find out if it rides as well. Revues are encouraging.

I really would like something with a decent sized top box and perhaps panniers, although I'm quite happy with the soft saddlebags that I use now.

Just dreaming.....
Back on bikes and loving it.

I think I should add a Hayabusa or ZX14 to my list, but as a drag bike not the sport touring deal they come as when stock. So, geared down a tooth or two in the front, stretched swingarm, fat rear tire, etc. I would NEVER own a bike like that, but I think doing a hit or two on a drag strip with something like that would be so much fun.

Hmm..

  • Y2K
  • Britten V1000
  • Suzuki RE5 (just to experience what the engine feels like in terms of power delivery)
  • Suzuki GSX1400

And maybe if I survived the above..
  • Ninja H2

There's a Britten here in Wellington NZ - in the national museum (Te Papa) beside the cafe on the 2nd floor.

It's like is mechanical porn..  :icon_mrgreen:

mechanical porn indeed. guy basically builds a 1off bada$$ bike.  using parts of his own design.  i know thats always been a dream of mine. ( which wont happen lol) its a mechanical work of art.
