Sooo I pulled the plugs and the one on the left was so loose I could take it off with my hand

Those do look a little "too hot". That's some nice rust though!

Modern fuels don't leave such obvious deposits anymore. Colour isn't a great guide any longer. Other damage is and so is oil/soot.
Ethanol fuels also will tend to burn whiter ( on this particular bike I think alcohol fuels may not be a good idea. Brass jets and steel tank.).
