Okay so here it goes.

This is my first forum I have ever joined. I haven't found a reason to join any kind of forum until I bought my 2008 Suzuki GS500.
First things first, is there is any tips for regular maintenance I am all ears. I need to know how to keep this bike in tip top shape.

I bought it for what i feel is a pretty good price, $1550. The only issue I seem to be having with it is there is an idling issue. After the bike warms up for about ten minutes The idle stays at about 3500-4000 rpm. I have checked the throttle cable to see if its getting stuck, it doesn't seem to. The choke seems to be in check as well. I can say that if I feather the clutch while in first gear I can get the idle back to 1400 rpm. It immediately goes back up as I give it even the slightest throttle. Aside from the idling issue it seems to run great. I have also tried to check for a vacuum leak around the seals for the carbs. No leaks in my knowledge but I have probably not checked all the places possible.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance

This should help:

First place to start.

That said, there's likely a lot more to it, making it run right eventually. But might as well start with the simple, adjust the idle with the big knob. You can do this while on the bike with your right hand. Careful, it may be kind of hot. Be sure the bike is fully warmed up before adjusting, that is ride on the road for 15-20 minutes, and ensure the choke is all the way off. Then adjust and see what happens.

Post back if you can't get it to idle consistently or if you discover other idling issues. BTW my bike idled when warm at 5K rpm when I got it and it turns out it simply wouldn't idle due to about 100 problems, the previous owner had just set the idle real fast to make it run just to sell it.
