GS500 oil light 1995

Hello everyone!

Read allot on this forum and learned allot from it! So first of all, thanks for the information I already received.

However. I've stumbled on a new problem. I've recently bought a new speedometer and that part including the tachometer part are working like they should.
The only "problem" is that it does not have an oil light. Now I've hooked it up to the fuel gauge. I thought that if the engine was off it would give me a "full tank of gas" en when the engine had oil pressure it would give me a "empty tank of gas".

The fact is that in both cases the gauge will show an empty tank of gas.

I hope someone has an idea to fix this and use the fuel gauge for oil pressure!

I don't know the answer to your question but I do want to know what that speedo is ... where did it come from? how did you hook it up? Inquiring minds.

I have the same cluster (from Ebay). I don't think you'll be able to use the fuel gauge as an oil light. The fuel sensor (IIRC) reads varying levels of resistance from the sending unit to show how much fuel you have. The oil light is a simple on/off light.

In my case, I bought a bolt that has a red LED and mounted it next to the speedometer. It is far brighter than any stock oil light that I've seen.....

maybe if you could simulate resistance by adding the appropriate resister inline on that wire. so when the low oil pressure light flicks on, from the bikes end and sends the signal, the fuel light on your gauge comes on.. but im not sure how exactly they have it working, you might need to supply a constant voltage in order for it to detect.
