Rejet help!!!

Looking to buy a k&n air filter and will most likely have to rejet...any good cheap kits? Or what jets do you guys suggest?

Why not just stick with the stock filter and jetting that is known to work well? The k&n filter will offer no performance benefit and introduce a lot of headache.

Stock filter and pipe is a better option than K&N and stock pipe. Its also easier to rejet for the pipe alone. Or all stock is easy to jet too. And it needs to be jetted - stock.

If you're in the US, I'll sell you a kit for $25 shipped for the stock with pipe, or K&N with pipe - I dont do any other set up's, cos the're not a slam dunk re-jet kit.
If outside the US - no idea what shipping will be - so check with me.

The biggest reason to avoid the DJ kit is  - their needles are cut differently and they dont let you use generic jets. So these things have various random numbers, and a 120 in a DJ has nothing to do with 120 in mikuni or a 120 keihein or anything else. Their 120 is smaller than their 122, that's it. I use off the shelf so a little richer from the 125 is the 127.5 mikuni of the same type, available @ your nearest bike store. You can take it there and match it and get the larger one. Also DJ does not have pilots, IMHO, this bike cant ever be cleaned up under 1/8th throttle with the stock pilots.

You could use generic mikuni's and use off the shelf and we'd be able to tell you the numbers for your year/setup.

Bulding a café racer and dont want to keep old big stock filter...not changing for peformance.

Well in that case, you are talking about pod filters, no? You will probably have to jet up to 142.5 or 145. And you will probably have a lot of idle problems.

I'd pick a different bike to make a "cafe racer" if I were you. But to each his own. Making it run right with pods is not going to be an easy task.

Surely id only have jet problems if i dont adjust the carb right.

These are constant-velocity carbs with a fixed-size idle air inlet. They are sized to the motorcycle appropriately according to the vacuum and airflow expected by the rest of the system. So when you change the ambient/filter air pressure by a large margin you have to compensate somewhere else to get the slides to operate correctly, and that's not to mention the idle air inlet. Maybe change the slide spring? Maybe you won't be able to get it to idle right unless you do something to restrict air into the idle air inlet?

CV carbs are really particular about air pressure. Changing to pod filters really does change the air pressure a lot.
