Hello guys,

I registered on this forum because I'll get my GS500E in 3 months and i have few questions.
Since i live in apartment i have small basement in my building, and I'm planning to store my bike in there once i get it (if I'll be able to fit it in).
I looked on internet about width of bike, and it says it's 800mm,but i need measurements from widest point-from foot pegs to muffler.
I'm putting picture on which i draw red line so you can see what i mean.

My second question is related to handlebars width.
I saw various versions online ,and on Wikipedia it says its 800mm wide, but I'm also saw very curved and almost straight versions.
I would like to know what are factory stock versions for GS500E and how wide they are?
If it means anything,I'm getting model from year 1995-2003.

Every comment is welcome.
Kind regards,
Petar

Measuring my handlebars, it looks to be just a little bit less than 80cm (maybe 76cm or so). The distance you want - foot peg to muffler - isn't nearly the widest point, it's only maybe 60cm.

Thanks for info.
However i would still like to know what is the widest point of bike,if it's not from peg to muffler?
Once again,thank you.

The mirrors, when they're unfolded. When they're folded in, the handlebars. This is a relatively small bike, and while the exhaust does stick out a bit, when I'm filtering through traffic I know that if I can get my mirrors and bars through a gap, I can get the rest of the bike through.

Your photo is cropped, but the full picture shows quite clearly that the handlebars are the widest part on the bike.

Speaking of which, I just realised why my handlebars only measure 76cm - I don't have any bar-ends installed, the OEMs abandoned ship onto the motorway soon after I got the bike. I suspect it is the full 80cm if you have those.

Oh,i knew handlebars are most wide,i never thought of mirrors tho.
Anyway,i wanted to upload that same photo, but i had to crop it because of the size.
PS
what about handlebars versions?
I saw many versions, but i don't know what is factory stock one.
I hate that very curved version, but i do like when they are lightly curved, and are as straight as possible.
