Rear turn signal stalk nuts are seized

The nuts that sit inside the rear fender, holding the turn signal stalk in place, is totally seized to the bolt connected to it. So when I turn the nut, the whole stalk turns. Trouble is, there's nothing to hold onto, because the other end of that bolt is inside the rubber stalk of the turn signal. The bolt is hollow, so I tried to drive a drill but in there to hold it in place while I torqued, but no such luck. Any ideas?

EDIT: Ive decided that the stock design is better than a mod, so im not cutting the stalks.

If there's enough bolt sticking out past the nut you could try holding it with vice grips while you try to break the nut free. Might ruin your threads if you're not careful though. If you haven't tried yet, I would try some penetrating oil to loosen it a little as well.

PB Blaster works wonders for stuff like that!

When I swapped out my stock signals, I went with OEM from another Suzuki bike I liked. They mounted a bit different but I like them much better and they aren't as flimsy as some of the aftermarket stuff can be.

Thanks, I tried it but still stuck. It's OK. I'm going to keep this bike as OEM as possible. I may upgrade this summer
