Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on this forum. I've having this issue ever since I rejetted my 2007 gs500f. The bike starts up and idles fine, and just cruising around it's fine, but whenvener I get to about 8k it sort of hesitates and I don't get any power past about 9k unless I shift to the next gear. It sort of bucks back and forth. I have a delkevic slip on muffler, an oem style hiflofiltro air filter, my jets are 142.5 main, 62.5 mid, and 20 pilot. I have my mixture screws set to 2.5 turns out. I have checked all of my fuel lines and vacuum lines and breather hoses and everything's fine. I also tried running it with the petcock set to prime and that didn't make any difference. The exhaust also pops a lot on decel. I looked at my plugs and they looked a little white (too lean?) And I replaced them with new plugs today and they didn't make a difference. The bike sat for a few months for winter but I had fuel stabilizer in the fuel system. I rejetted after winter was over and I didn't really clean the carb as well as I should have so maybe one of the passages are clogged? That's about all the info I have for right now. Please help me this is driving me nuts!

132.5 with stock air filter - hiflofiltro is same crap as stock.
Cool.

He he you may be lean @ idle, but you're rich as the dickens (yes Charles dickens - it was the best of times, it was the worst of times) past 3/4 throttle.
Bucking when you open throttle = rich.
I'm actually for keeping it a shade lean @ idle, that makes hot and warm restarts easy, and slightly rich all the way across past 1/8th throttle.
Cool.

Thanks! I don't really want to shell a bunch of money for a higher flowing air filter so I'll order the smaller jet and try that out.

The Buddha

Higher flow filter isn't an option at all unless you put in an exhaust. So yes 132.5 mains is your only option.
Sorry didn't mean to confuse you. BTW that Hiflofiltro is what I have on my 95 and I love it. I'll be modding it a wee bit at the next clean and put foam in it if it ever needs to be replaced, its an awesome filtro ... inspite of its dumbass name.

I finally got to put in the 132.5 main jets. The bike runs perfect now and pulls really hard from 7k all the way to redline. Thanks for the help!

The Buddha

Yes good, that 20/132.5 for a stock bike is a well proven setup.
IMHO only thing that beats it is an 89-00 carb with 40/125.

Oddly enough that's what I have.

I would have thought the 3-circuit carbs would have a wider power band.
