I read on Pablo's site that '95 cbr600 rearsets will fit the GS...
anyone know how to make the holes fit?
or is the 92-95 gsx-r600 easier...CBR900rr maybe???

what's the easiest way to make these rearsets work?...
I don't wanna pay 200+ for a set or rearsets...

help???

How long have you been riding? How long you been scraping parts?

In other words, do you really need rearsets?
dumb question....of course you dont NEED them, what does that have to do with it... :nana:

Chimivee fitted the cbr rearsets and it wasnt as easy as I was led to believe.
You have to slot the holes to mount them to frame, but also slot holes for the rear brake master cylinder. On the left side the cbr linkage doesnt line up correctly with the splines leaving you either hitting the engine case or not getting enough throw on the shift lever-His solution was to cut the stock shift lever off and weld the splined end onto the cbr linkage. or did he drill the stock one cut off at the spline and screw the linkage-I think thats what he did.

It looks good, and he did a great, clean job of it. Not a simple bolt on. gxsr has been described as simpler....but then if you believe everything they tell you about how easy it is...

Even with bars, you don't NEED the rearsets. If anything they make the bike a little less comfortable for longer rides. It'll put you in a little more aggressive position. The CBR900 rearsets work reasonably well. I had to notch the frame mount holes, but the master cylinder bolts right up. Shift linkage is a pain though - as Pablo said, the splines are different. I cut off the stock shifter, drilled a hole and used a heim joint from the local industrial hardware store to attact the linkage to the shift nub. Incidentally, the CBR link is too short. I used an R1 link and it's pretty much right on. There are some close up pics of my rearsets installed on the WOF. They're purple, you can't miss 'em.

Oh, and with the CBR shift pedal, the link comes off the bottom, so the bike shifts backwards. I've gotten used to it, but am casually looking for another shift pedal to correct the shift pattern. You'll also have to modify your sidestand or it till interfere with the shift rod.

Would it be possible for someone here that machines parts to fab up something like these:

It seems like they would be pretty cheap if enough people wanted them. There are people making all kinds of things for the GS, so I KNOW someone could make these. It would solve the problem of trying to find rearsets that would work for our bikes.

He he  :icon_lol:

There is nothing comfortable about rearsets on a GS.

Unless you have very stumpy legs, rearsets make the fit between seat and peg very tight. On my race bike I had to literally fling my legs up or retract them one at a time to get on the pegs.

I am in the process of putting on some of these cbr rearsets and I didnt slot the holes I just used the stock top hole and drilled two new holes for the bottom seemed easier than slotting them only problem ive ran into with this is on the left side the bolt would have hit the chain so i had to put it in backwards. What I cant figure out is what to do with the rear master cylinder?  I know I can slot the holes to make the GS one fit but then the part that connects to the pedal is too long the cbr one is alot shorter so I was just going to use that master cylinder but then the brake like mounts on the top instead of the side which puts a bend in it and places the extra line right into the shock. Id like to know how you guys took care of this cause that would be a big help.
