change gs 500e 1989 clipons to handlebars

I have a 1989 gs 500e. It has clip ons. I want handlebars because disability means i need to be more upright. I tried using handlebar risers with the clipons ... one snapped!! scary!. So now wonder if suzuki gs 500 k5 handle bar clamps can fit on my bike so i can do the job properly .... thanks in advance people . I am in the uk .. in cornwall if that matters

Addidasguy who sadly is no longer with us wrote a post about the different clipons for the gs500. The 89 model which you have is the lowest. The Euro 2 clip ons are the highest.

As far as I know, there are two holes in the center of your yoke and you can attach risers to that and then add any handlebar you like:

Hi ... My 89 gs 500 seems to have the euro clipons ,,, the tallest ones . Still after more hight .. so going to swap the top yolk part. If anyone wants a swap for the parts.. clipons and bars for top yolk and handlebars let me know otherwise i will just look get some from e bay ... Thanks for the replys folks

As far as I know, you do not have to swap the top yoke. Are there two holes in the centre of it? 
You can attach the risers to them.

You can attach the risers to them.

Indeed, made the swap without changing top yoke. Just change the bolts with risers and its done.

Well , I bought a used yolk and was given some handle bars for a gs so its a cheap solution ... I could as you said just have used the yolk on the bike  but had bought the yolk before I realised that ...... Lovin belting about on this old gs ....  thanks for your advices people
