I tried to start this topic several times, got tired of fighting the captcha.

Here's my new to me '91 GS500E.  Previous owner started a paint job but abandoned.  No idea what they were going for.  It will receive a repaint at least, and there's some other odds and ends to do.

First is the front end.  I have new fork seals and dust covers in, just need to take the front forks off.  While they are off, I want to replace the front master cyl, brake lines, as well as all of the controls on the handle bars.  Has anyone ever used a set similar to this from fleabay or elsewhere?  https://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-Universal-Motorcycle-7-8-Handlebar-Horn-Turn-Signal-Light-Control-Switch-US-/362321518948

Looks clean!  I dunno on those universal controls.  Good luck with that.  I'm thinking you want your bike pristine, so why settle on 11.99 controls from china?  You could find some minty suzuki ones on Ebay or go all in with new oem?

Pristine, no.  Rust free and cleanish in the control area, yes.  I probably can't afford new ones so I'm not even going to look.  I didn't see anything on ebay that looked remarkably better than I currently have.

Front forks are off, going to drop them off for new seals and progressive springs (depending on what we find already in there)

While they are off, I've ordered new pads (the old ones are soaked in fork oil, stopping it is...a challenge.), new generic universal brake lever and master cylinder, matching clutch levers.

Here's a photo of the pads on there currently.  Pity, they look fairly new.  See that seal around the piston?  I assume I can't just push that back into place, right?  Do I need to order a rebuild kit?  Are there any other calipers that would be considered an upgrade that would fit the '91?
