Quick Fitment Question - 97 Throttle tube on 91 Bike

Just a quick question. I need to replace an aftermarket throttle tube on my 91 GS but most of them are 97 and up. The 91 only has a single throttle line unlike the newer bikes. Has anyone fit a newer throttle tube on an older bike, and made it work. I don't really trust my quick fix to stop the throttle from rolling forward for long.

I'd imagine that the dual-cable version also goes into a different switch-base, so it may not even fit without modification.

It can't be that hard to find an older tube, perhaps you can cross-reference one.  If I have time to look at work today I'll try to remember to do so.
