Another one engine knocking

Hi guys,

Have 02' GS500. After wintertime I got surprise from the bike. And that surprise dosen't sound very well.

Oil level: Enough.
Milleage (kilometrage): a lot. Actually i don't know but odometer shows 54k it could be changed or bike just had an engine swap.

On iddle i can hear camshaft float and bearing crank (and it was always) but what's that tapping sound when i rev it up? Is it valves kissing piston? Or it could just be bad ignition or spark (cause i met something like that with cars and it was caused by bad spark and detanating).

idk but for me it sounds like cam chain

Easy to spot cam chain problem. Take off valve cover take out sparkplugs and turn the engine over. If you see the chain sag between the 2 cam sprockets that = cam chain tensioner going. It can be rewound and reinstalled.

I took  off engine cam chain cover today and didin't find chain slack... Cams looks good. Now i think that i got really serious problem and still don't know what it is. What look for next? Magneto? Also i will check valve clearances...

Alternator noise will be very pronounced on the left side. Noise when decelerating but not accelerating = likely bottom end, rod bearing probably. It makes a clicking sound at the beginning. Nothing you can do even if you caught it at that stage, but within 30 miles it will self destruct. Better off looking for another motor.
