Hello, I'm new here and just got a GS500E 2001. It has an aftermarket handlebar (not the clip-ons) and I'm looking for a new one. I searched in the forum and on the internet but couldn't find the sizes of the OEM handlebar. I will use the bike for a long rides and suggesting even more comfortable handlebar with more/less raise and angles would be cool. I read in the gstwins wiki about the handlebar raisers but i want to replace my handlebar with oem sized one or similar. The one i have now is around 82 cm long and raise around 3-4cm.

Welcome to the forum!!

One route you could go is to order OEM GS500 Suzuki bars from a parts site like Motosport or from a dealership... but it would probably be a bit pricey.

If you want to look at aftermarket bars, the diameter you'd need is 7/8". I have "superbike" bars and the only difference between them and stock is being about 1" lower. They are very inexpensive.

By looking at some pictures, I'd be willing to bet that "Renthal Road Bars" are very close to stock height and shape. Revzilla has a nice selection of aftermarket bars.

I hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply! I saw the prices of oem handlebars, but they are really expensive, so I'm going for replacement ones. The 'Renthal Road' bars have a lot of variations. Maybe the 'Road High' is the closest to oem ones?

Edit: found your bars, thanks a lot!

I think the Renthals and Bikemaster Superbike bars like SBW is talking about both are not only wider than stock by at least an inch or two, but also have a lot less sweep (or in mc terms, "pullback"... which I hate, because it doesn't describe the angle).

Someone else did some research on this and determined that the Bikemaster "Daytona" are very close to stock.

There are so many handlebar bends, it really is something you can personalize and make it work exactly for you. I have had three different handlebars (none stock) on my GS before settling on one, and four different ones on my Triumph. As cheap as the Bikemaster bars are, you might try one and then don't worry much if you wind up not liking it and replacing with something else until you find the right bend for you, then maybe see if a more premium product is available in a similar or identical bend if you want to upgrade from the Bikemasters.
