Carb flooded now blowing smoke

Went for a run to shops and when I went to start my 06 GS500f it didn't want to start took a fair few turn overs until did but stalled almost immediately, noticed fuel just under right foot coming out of overflow hose and was quite a bit. Rode only about 500m to home which seemed to run ok......

Found fuel in air box and left hand carb was wet. Run without tank or air box and seemed to run and idle ok, but started blowing smoke.....not really a fuel or oil smoke , sort of mix of both.

Took carbs off and seemed Carb flooded due to crap stopping flood valve from closing, cleaned both out, cleaned jets and check nothing blocked. Put back in and bike started easily on choke and ran fine.....after a minute backed choke off and notice still smoking under idle and more so with acceleration. Under revving seemed fuel was blowing out both carbs.

Guessing carb rebuild going to be needed, but would the over fuel cause the smoke? Fuel In the oil? But level doesn't seemed to have changed and not really fuel, smell. Washed or glazed rings? Worst thought it hydrolocked, but did t seem like it did, checked Compression all good at both 160psi, so maybe a leak down test needed?

Anyone experience this? Should I just be looking at carbs? Or am I looking at rings also?

same happened to me few years ago, but only that float needle stuck open. Definetly required an oil change, it had flooded to oil pan, which was like water..

Rebuild ??? You need a float seat O ring. Don't start replacing all sorts of crapola with Chinese crapola. Rebuild kits are 99% useless parts.

Definitely on the list, though my local Suzuki shops don't seem to want to keep these parts in stock, cannot even find a fuel bowl gasket (O-ring) in stock

yeah it smoked, barely ran, couldnt idle at all, full throttle home and took carbs apart. In a mint condition it wont flood even on prime. Had some problems last summer too, occasionally only ran with petcock on prime, and when i forgot it on thru night  it had flooded all gas away 😒 Well now gone thru all the o rings and measured the float height as the manual suggests. Feels like these carbs are very delicate. Lets see how this summer turns out 😁

Change of oil and filter, gave the carbies a clean out, can't get a kit or even the seperate parts for nearly a week so will do when I get the parts and time, as need bike on the road now. Runs great though, no smoke, no fuel leaks or poppin/backfiring, so should get me through until I get all the bits.
Thanks for the replies all.....appreciate it

OK Float gasket leaking ??? If not - leave it alone - put some of that 3m/permatex purple crap on it (think its called gasket maker) if its not leaking just to make sure it seals up. That purple stuff stays pliant, protects the neoprene gasket and keeps it in place. Available at autoparts place - not bike dealer. Just ignore those guys.
O rings are sold by measurement. Cross section dia and ID/OD. That's what you need to fish the O ring you need out of - you guessed it - autoparts or even a place like harbor freight. But you'd have to buy that million piece O ring box to get that 1 O ring. You need a neoprene O ring here - the dimensions or "fit" is what counts.

Don't complicate this crap. Its so simple a cave man could fix it. How do you think we fixed this bike in 50,000 BC is what you need to ask yourself.
