Hi all!

My petcock stopped working and I replaced it with on/off model because nor the local dealers or ebay did not offer me new membrane at all. Only one full petcock assembly from tourmax was at the dealers partlist. That is way too expensive (60€) when problem is solved with current on/off petcock. Where can I get new membrane for that old petcock? Dealer told me that they can not order the membrane because tourmax do not provide it at all.

I cleaned the vacuum side plastic plate with holes and removed that restriction goo/rubber thing in the middle. I just think that the 30 years old membrane is not good to go anymore.

Cheers

I just had a look at my fiche and your dealer is right, the diaphragm (membrane) is not available as an individual part, you have to buy the complete assembly.....and yeah...they aint cheap!!

Part # 4430001D21

Try ebay or a breakers yard for a used one  :dunno_black:

Oh no... Thanks for the clarification. I will try to heal the old membrane. I think it did not have holes in it.

I'll try to give some silicone for it. Have just to make sure the silicone is away when reassembling. I have been told that silicone is like sugar for the gasoline.

If it is not succesful I'll use original petcock as on/off model with pri.  :D

I found a funny petcock modification which have not crossed my mind at all. :D Just disorient the mechanism and make on/off petcock out of the original one.

AFIK,  there are just a few styles of diaphragm in the Japanese petcocks.

I just ordered what looked and measured like mine. I'll update when it comes in.... in my build thread.

The seller that I purchased from ships from Taiwan and USA.  I bought from them before and the quality was good.

This is the eBay store.

I wouldn't use silicone for that!   If anything, use a gasoline resistant sealer.  Brush on a few thin coats and let it dry completely.

Thanks for the advice! I did not knew about gas resistant sealers. Membrane looks better after silicone than what it was without, maybe it just made the surface little bit moister. I'll clean the membrane completely free of silicone because I do not believe that works either.

So let's try with the better rubber sealer!
